SUMMARY

LICENSEE: FirstEnergy Nuclear Generation, LLC FACILITY: Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2

SUBJECT:

Annual Assessment Meeting Summary On April 11, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public open-house at the Shippingport Community and Municipal Building, in Shippingport, PA. The NRC conducted the open house to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2, for 2012.

A notice of the open house was issued on March 14, 2013, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML13073A337.

ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web page at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

The NRC displayed poster boards and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of the Beaver Valley Power Station for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2012, as documented in our Annual Assessment Letter dated March 4, 2013 (ADAMS Accession No. ML13063A077). The NRC poster boards included background information on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) and plant-specific performance. Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Beaver Valley Power Station can be found on the NRC's web site at:

www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.

Members of the public, State officials, and members of the media attended the open-house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Beaver Valleys performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
