On July 23, 2015, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a closed meeting with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USAGE) and FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC, the licensee) to discuss the flooding hazard reevaluation report (FHRR) for the Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2 (BVPS, Beaver Valley). The meeting was held at USACE's offices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The closed meeting notice dated July 20, 2015, can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML15201A481. The USAGE and NRC provided FE NOC with pre-final results of the USAGE basin-wide probable maximum flood analysis and discussed the hydrographs being developed for the Beaver Valley site prior to the NRC issuing the results of the USAGE analysis to the licensee.
The NRC stated that it expects to issue the results to FENOC by the end of August 2015. The licensee had an opportunity to comment and ask questions during the meeting and no follow up questions remained.
The USAGE and FENOC were provided an opportunity to comment on this summary prior to its issuance for completeness and accuracy of information. Any comments received were addressed and incorporated, as applicable, in the final version of this summary.
