CPB-12 Predicted Cladding Collapse Time (Draft SER Section (4.2.3.2(2))

e The Applicant should confirm that the predicted cladding collapse time exceeds the expected lifetime of the fuel.

Response

Clad flattening (collapse) evaluations have been performed on the Millstone Unit 3 fuel for regions 1,2 and 3 according to the NRC approved Westinghouse clad flattening model contained in WCAP-8381 (Revised Clad Flattening Model).

These evaluations confirm that predicted clad flattening times are well in excess of the projected lifetime of the Millstone Unit 3 fuel.
