Vassallo, Chief Operating Reactors Branch #2 Division of Licensing Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555 License No. DPR-35 Docket No. 50-293 Re: I.E. Bulletin 80 Additional Information

Dear Sir:

This letter provides additional information concerning the status of masonry walls at Pilgrim Station, as discussed on March 8, March 21, and April 4,1984 with Mr. Paul Leech of your office.

During the performance of a recent plant modification, we became aware of a condition which caused us to question the completeness of our statement con-tained in our November 5,1980 response to I.E. Bulletin 80-11 that "all masonry walls in Pilgrim Station have been identified, marked on drawings as to their location, and surveyed as of November 1,1980. Accordingly, we per-fonned additional engineering and plant reviews during February and March which are continuing. These reviews have identified a limited number of additional safety-related walls and a larger number of masonry blockouts located in reinforced concrete walls.

We are continuing an expeditious and complete review of these findings and will continue to keep you informed. A report will be submitted at the com-pletion of this effort.

Very truly,yours, William D. Harring on WDH/mg j$0  ;
