Hashington, DC 20555 License DPR-35 Docket 50-293 SPDS AVAILABILITY AND HUMAN FACTORS This is to notify you that the two remaining actions for implementation of the SPDS at Pilgrim Station as discussed in our letter of May 1,1990, are complete.
On July 1, 1990, Boston Edison Company completed the Availability Test on our Safety Parameter Display System (SPDS).
This test was run for 750 hours0.00868 days <br />0.208 hours <br />0.00124 weeks <br />2.85375e-4 months <br /> and we achieved a 99.98% availability rate.
On June 20, 1990, we completed an independent human factors review of the SPDS in the Pilgrim Control Room.
This review was conducted in conjunction with the Control Room Design Review Project and identified 10 Human Engineering Discrepancies (HEDs) of which 5 have been corrected and the remaining 5 are in the disposition process.
Finally, as a result of program integration efforts between the Regulatory.
j Guide 1.97 (RG 1.97) project and' the SPDS project', we have identified 2 -
Sampling Panel C-19 Return valves (CV-5065-91 & 92) that were not included in our original SPDS scope of work but were included in our RG 1.97 program. He have modified the SPDS procedures identifying these valves to-the operator.
Since the preferred method for the signal cut-ins'is cold shutdown conditions, l
the signals will be installed in the. system by.RF0 8.
He will inform you when this work is complete.
