'6E* 8 TYRONE C. FAHNER ATTORNEY GENERAL STATE OF ILLINOIS TELEPHONE ISO NORTH LA SALLE STREET M-M00 CHICAGO 60601 October 15, 1982 Mr. Harold Denton, Director Division of Nuclear Reactor Regulation 9720 Norfolk Avenue Bethesda, MD 20814 Re: People of Illinois' Request for Show Cause Proceeding, Pertaining to La Salle County Station, Unit 2, Docket No. 50-374

Dear Mr. Denton:

On September 15, 1982 this office received from the NRC Division of Licensing a summary of concrete element design margins for La Salle County Station Unit 1 and Unit 2 areas required for Unit 1 operation. These documents had been requested on July 19, 1982, when this office asked that they be made a part of the record of our 10 CFR S2.206 request. The documents bear dates of April and May 1982.

Please be advised that the People of Illinois expect to file comments on the design margin summaries, as they relate to La Salle Unit 2. Our consultant was out of the country on extended leave when we received them and has only just returned.

Therefore it will be a few weeks until the materials can be reviewed and the comments prepared.

Reference is made to your letter of July 19, 1982 to Attorney General Fahner, Indicating that those portions of Illinois' petition pertaining to Unit 2 had been deferred pending further review. Our commer ts will relate to that further review and will be filed as soon as we can reasonably prepare them.

l l Sincerely, l .
