Gentlemen: W /

DOCKETS 50-266 AND 50-301 POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT EMERGENCY PLAN In our letter of December 30, 1980, to Mr. H. R. Denton we projected that a proposed schedule for meeting the 15-minute notification criteria of 10 CFR 50 Appendix E would be available by April 1,1981. We have been receiving bids on potential notification systems and are presently evaluating both the systems and the bids. In view of these activities and in view of the fact that this system requires substantial interfacing with State and local agencies, we are unable to establish a firm schedule at this time. We anticipate to be able to provide a schedule to you by June 1, 1981.

The revised Point Beach Nuclear Plant Emergency Plan is being implemented today +o meet the required implerentation date of April 1,1981.

The Plan has already been transmitted under separate cover.

Very truly yours, C. W. Fay, Director Nuclear Power Department Copies to: Mr. J. G. Keppler, Region III U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission g NRC Resident Inspector g Point Beach Nuclear Plant
