UNITS 1 AND 2 On July 18, 1989, we responded to NRC Generic Letter 89-08, which required that licensees formalizo a program consisting of procedures and controls to ensure that erosion / corrosion does not lead to degradation of single-phase and two-phase high-energy carbon steel systems.
As explained in our response, Point Beach Nuclear Plant had implemented such a program at that time, but administrative controls which would provide long-term planning and basis documents were not yet in place.
In response to Generic Letter 89-08, an August 30, 1990 commitment date was made to put these measures in place.
Formal administrative controls and long-term plans are now finalized.
It is our conclusion that the program we now have in place at Point Beach Nuclear Plant will provide assurance that erosion / corrosion will not lead to degradation of single-phase and two-phase high-energy carbon steel systems.
