McGuire Nuclear Station Docket No 50-369 LER/R0 369/82-66 Gentlemen:

The following is additional information relating to the above referenced Reportable Occurrence Report which was previously addressed by my letter dated September 10, 1982 followed by additional information by my letters dated October 28, 1982 and August 28, 1984.

LER/R0 369/82-66 reported failures of the Ventilation Unit Condensate Drain Tank (VUCDT) Flow Totalizer in which the totalizer either failed to count during a VUCDT to Condenser Circulating Water (RC) release, or continued to count slowly after termination of a release. In my August 28, 1984 letter, it was stated that Duke was evaluating a modification that would replace the Rosemont transmitter with a vortex flowmeter. In January 1987, a Nuclear Station Modification was completed that replaced the existing Rosemont Model 1151 differential pressure transmitter, (located at the VUCDT) with a Fischer & Porter Liquid Vortex Flowmeter. The new flowmeter was verified to have been properly installed and was calibrated.

Since the installation and calibration of the new instrument, the flow totalizer in this loop has functioned properly without the problems previously identified.

On March 23, 1987, the quarterly preventative maintenance on this flow totalizer loop was performed and the instrument loop was found to be in calibration and functioning properly.

Should there by any questions concerning this matter, please advise.

Very truly yours, i

(-
