SUBJECT:

RESPCNSE TO GENERIC LETTER 88-05 (TAC NO. 68956)

On March 17, 1988, the NRC Staff issued Generic Letter 88-05, "Boric Acid Corrosion of Carbon Steel Reactor Boundary Conponents in PWR Plants." In this letter, we requested that you provide assurances that a program has been impler.ented at your plant that addressed the corrosive ef fects of reactor coolant system leakage at less than technical specification limits. The generic letter identified four cenriderations which your program should inckde.

In a letter dated June 3,1988, you responded to Generic Letter 88-05, describing your comitrent to a program which identifies, nonitors, linits and evaluates Doric acid leakage at your plant. We find that you have provided assurance that a program is in place dealing with boric acid leakage that potentially cculd affect the integrity of the reactor coolant pressure tcundary. This fulfills your requirtment in responding to Generic Letter 88-05. i l

As discussed in Generic Letter 88-05, you should taintain, in auditable fern, records of the program and results obtained from implementation of the program.

This completes our review efforts regarding your response to Generic Letter 88-05. ,

y Sincerely 88'
