RESPONSE DATE EXTENSION FOR VIRGIL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION (TAC No. M98602)

Dear Mr. Taylor:

My September 8,1998, letter requested additional information regarding your response to Generic Letter 97-01 by December 7,1998. My request pertained to the Westinghouse Owner's Group (WOG) integrated program for assessing reactor vessel head penetration nozzles at WOG member plants, and to the contents of Westinghouse Topical Report No. WCAP-14901.

Your December 4,1998, letter requested us to extend your response period to January 15,1999. ' You indicated that the information requested is within the scope of the generic RAI response that the Electric Power Research Institute is developing. The generic response will not be' complete until ear!y January 1999. Accordingly, we extend your RAI response period to January 15,1999.
