EHERGENCY TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION CHANGE - CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 (TACS 68251/68252)

By letter dated May 26, 1988, you requested an emergency Technical' Specification change which revises the Total Number of Channels for the PORV Block Valve Position Indicator from 2/ Valve to 1/ Valve as shown in enclosed Table 3.3-10.

Per our telephone conference the emergency Technical Specification change is required to preclude significant delays for;the restart of Unit 2.

t j We have reviewed your evaluation and the justification provided in your submittal and find it acceptable. This letter confirms the verbal granting of a temporary waiver of compliance for the above change for Unit 2. This waiver of compliance will be in effect through June 2, 1988, while we complete the processing of .
