Office of Investigations (OI) completed report regard lng an alleged compromise of an initial licensed operator examination at Duke Energy Corporation's Catawba Nuclear Station.

Ol did not substantiate the allegation that the initial operator examination was compromised.

We plan no further action with regard to this matter. Should you have any questions concerning tnis letter, please contact us.

SYNOPSIS The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Region U, Office of Investigations, initiated this case on January 27,1998, to determine whether an Operations representative to training at the Duke Power Company's Catawba Nuclear Station, Clover, SC, compromised an initial operating examination.

The evidence developed in this investigation d:d not substantiate the allegation that the initial operating examination at Catawba Nuclear Station was compromised on December 4,1997.
