Dear Mr. Peterson:

As discussed with Ms. Martha Purser of your staff, a team consisting of Mr. Daniel S. Rom (team leader, NRC Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards), Messrs. Robert Bryant -

and Ronald Spath (members, both of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), will inspect the dam at the SNSWP on June 9,1999. This inspection is a routine function of the NRC's Dam Safety Program. The purpose of the inspection is to confirm that the structure conforms with the design documents, and that it is capable of performing its design functions. The previous inspection was done on February 26,1997, and the report was transmitted to you by my letter dated January 13,1998.
