SUMMARY

OF MEETING ON THE D.C. COOK TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS CONVERSION ACCEPTANCE REVIEW On April 27 and 28, 2004 , the Technical Specification Section staff conducted a meeting with representatives of American Electric Power in order to discuss the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant Units 1 and 2 Conversion to the Improved Technical Specifications. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss NRC staff comments on using the accelerated review process on the Cook submittal. The Cook submittal is the pilot program for an accelerated review process which employs improved electronic and oral communications to expedite the review process resulting in a substantial savings in review time. The goal of this pilot program is to significantly reduce the amount of time required to conduct a TS Conversion which currently takes about 16 months.

The staff and the license met to discuss TS Sections 1.0 thru 5.0 and Beyond Scope Issues 1 thru 35. The Cook TS Conversion submittal was accepted by the staff for the accelerated review and the formal review commenced on April 12, 2004.
