SUMMARY

OF DECEMBER 15, 2021, WITH INDIANA MICHIGAN POWER COMPANY TO DISCUSS POTENTIAL CHANGES TO THE QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM FOR DONALD C. COOK NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 (EPID L-2021-LRM-0115)

On December 15, 2021, an observation public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of Indiana Michigan Power Company (I&M, the licensee) via webinar. The purpose of this meeting was for I&M to provide information on a planned request for the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 (CNP), related to related to revising the CNP quality assurance program internal audit frequency. The meeting notice and agenda dated November 22, 2021, are available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML21326A175. A list of attendees is enclosed.

The licensee indicated that the program change is considered to be a reduction in commitment, but that the potential request would be similar to the one recently approved for Exelon Generation Company, LLC (ADAMS Accession No. ML20287A130). The licensee and the NRC staff had a brief discussion regarding the review timeline as it pertained to the 60 days referenced in Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 50, Section 50.54, Conditions of licenses, paragraph (a)(4). I&M currently plans to submit the request in January 2022. No members of the public had questions or comments during the meeting. No regulatory decisions were made at this meeting.
