Mrs Barbara Stamiris U 5795.N River Road DOMET NUMBER J. . ,,

p gO Freelend, MI h8623 M0. & UT:' FA ,...m.... .

Dear Mrs Stamiris Enclosed' herewith are documents responsive to your request of August 30, 1982, Nos 17 and 23 Because of my absence from the office, I was unable to mail these documents on November h or 5 However, I have provided them to you by Federal Express, which should more than make up for this delay.

In responding to your request, the following interpretations were adhered to:

1. Regarding request number 17, documents provided are those relevant to reduced life expectancy because of reactor vessel velds.
2. Documents and correspondence provided under request number 23 include those relating to the reactor vessel velds properties and relevant to the contention on reduced operating life expectancy (Contention 1). '

Many of these documents are highly technical in nature due to the technical content of your contention.

3 Attached herewith is an index of documents indicating author and addressee, if available. Other documents were written by either Consumers Power Company, Babcock and Wilcox, the NRC, the AEC, or other parties identified on the documents.

h. Proprietary documents of the Babcock and Wilcox Company or Consumers Power Company vill be provided under a separate cover when a pro-tective order is put into effect by the Hearing Board. A list of Babcock and Wilcox proprietary documents is attached to this sub-mittal. In addition, there are a few miscellaneous proprietary documents of B&W not yet on the list and of Consumers Power Company. All of these documents are highly technical in nature and appear to be cumulative of the other documents supplied to you.

Very truly yours

(
