Notes: (1) An automatic total flooding Halon 1301 System has been installed in the Computer and Storago/ Office Rooms. A discharge test will be conducted during March 1980 to demonstrate system operability and effectiveness.

(2) The completion date for the installation of the Communication Antenna will be delayed a week.due to Health Physics considerations in certain areas of the olant.

We also wish to take this opportunity to inform you about a discrepancy concerning the number of Control Poom ponels in which fire detection and signaling systems will be installed. Item 5.15.6 (1) on page 5-14 of Reference (a) states that fire detection and signaling systems will be installed in seven panels. However, BECo's response to General Question #19 of Generic Questions - Part I, which was forwarded by Reference (d), stated that only six panels would be involved, in regard to Table 3.2 of Reference (a), we wish to document the fact that the completion date of two items is being postponed until BECo receives a response to written and telephone ccmmunications. The details concerning these two items are as follows:

Item 3.2.2 - Testina Fire Detectors BECo and four other utilities retained NUTEC to develop an in-situ test of smoke detectors. Tests were conducted by NUTEC personnel with sulfur hexafluoride at the Yankee Rowe Nuclear Power Station. The results of these tests were submitted for staff review by Reference (e). Further action on this task by BECo is contingent upon a response from the staff.

Item 3.2.8 - CO System Discharge Test

_2 In Reference (f), we informed the staff of technical concerns we have regard ing the requirement to conduct a f ul l-scale CO discharge test in the Cable Spreading Room (CSR) at Pilgrim Nuclear2Power Station, in view of the importance of the CSR to plant operation, we requested a postponement of the test until these concerns could be satisfactorily resolved. Basically, our technical concerns involve the deleterious effects that are reported to have occurred to sensitive electronic /

electrical equipment and associated cabling in Cable Spreading Rooms at other plants where full-scale CO, discharge tests have taken place.

We are equally concerned about the potential long range, adverse effects that thermal shocks, caused by the CO test, may have on the various types ofcoatingsandinsulationonelectri$alcables.
