8/26/80 REPORT OF NFS WEST VALLEY ENS SYSTEM TESTS AND INVESTIGATION AS REQUIRED BY IE BULLETIN NO. 80-15

1. As previously reported, the NFS West Valley ENS was inspected by NFS in conjunction with the Iroquois Telephone Company personnel and found to be independent of need of NFS supplied power. The ENS is operated by offsite power from the telephone company.
3. The system was tested once (7/7/80) during a routine offsite power outage (quarterly test of emergency generator system) and once (7/21/80) during an outage caused by an electrical storm. In both cases the ENS functioned without offsite power and before the EDG power came on line.
5. Notice of action in case of ENS outage or malfunction has been 1 posted on both ENS extensions. A copy of 10 CFR Section 50.72 will also be placed in the file folder with each ENS phone along with instructions on when and under what circumstances to use the ENS.
