- Mr. Boyce H. Grier, Director US Nuclear Regulatory Comission Region 1 631 Park Avenue King of Prussia, PA 19406 Re: Docket 50-201 IE Bulletin 89-15

Dear Mr. Grier:

In response to your IE Bulletin No. 8815, we have determined by direct inspection with a representative of the Iroquois Telephone Company that the Emergency Notification System (ENS) telephone at our West Valley plant is supplied with power by the telephone company (and does not receive any 120V AC from the plant powerconfirming e supply does not require an ,on-site auxiliary power supply.

At our next scheduled power outage and test of the emergency diesel generator (EDG), we will conduct a test of the ENS to verify that it is independent of on-site power. This test will be conducted within the next thirty days.

Very tguly,yours,
