UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 February 24, 2015 Mr. Vito Kaminskas Site Vice President - Nuclear Generation DTE Electric Company Fermi 2 - 280 OBA 6400 North Dixie Highway Newport, MI 48166

SUBJECT:

SCHEDULE REVISION AND PROJECT MANAGER CHANGE FOR THE REVIEW OF THE FERMI 2 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NO.

MF4222)

Dear Mr. Kaminskas:

By letter dated April 24, 2014, DTE Electric Company submitted an application pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 51 and 10 CFR Part 54, to renew operating license NPF-43 for Fermi 2, for review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff). This letter is to inform you of a change in the safety review schedule for the Fermi 2 license renewal review.

Regarding the staff's safety review, the regional inspection activities associated to the Inspection Procedure 71002, "License Renewal Inspection", have been moved from March 9, 2015 to April 13, 2015, to avoid a conflict in staff's availability for conducting the inspection, as previously communicated (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML15022A174).

Also, on February 6, 2015, the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board admitted three contentions related to the Fermi 2 license renewal review proceedings. The new date for the issuance of the renewed license is "To Be Determined" (TBD) pending the results of the hearing

proceedings.

In addition, this letter provides notification of a change to the Environmental Project Manager assigned to Fermi 2 license renewal review. Effective February 9, 2015, Ms. Elaine Keegan became the Environmental Project Manager for Fermi 2.

All correspondence for the Project Manager associated with the environmental review for the Fermi 2 license renewal should be sent to:

Ms. Elaine Keegan, Senior Project Manager Projects Branch 2 Division of License Renewal Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Mail Stop O-11F1 Washington, DC 20555

Enclosed is the NRC staff's revised review schedule for the Fermi 2 license renewal application. If you have any questions related to the environmental schedule, please contact Elaine Keegan at 301-415-8517 or by e-mail at Elaine.Keegan@nrc.gov , or to the revised safety schedule, please contact Daneira Meléndez-Colón at 301-415-3301 or by e-mail at Daneira.Melendez-Colon@nrc.gov. Sincerely,

/RA/ Christopher G. Miller, Director Division of License Renewal Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket No. 50-341
