UPDATE TO RENEWAL OF FULL-POWER OPERATING LICENSE FOR FERMI 2 By memorandum dated November 9, 2016 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML16270A270), I informed the Commission of the U.S.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs intent to issue the Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-43 for Fermi 2 (at Enrico Fermi Nuclear Generating Station) on November 29, 2016. However, on November 21, 2016, Citizens Resistance at Fermi 2 (CRAFT) submitted a motion to reopen the closed record in the Fermi 2 license renewal proceeding and file a new contention.1 The purpose of this memorandum is to inform the Commission that the NRC staff will not issue the Fermi 2 renewed license on November 29, 2016. Instead, the NRC staff will submit a SECY paper to the Commission in the next few weeks with the staffs recommended path forward.
