Therefore, for the purpose of this submittal the 1987"total" population value of 39,945 is well below the FSAR value of 47,992 for 1990.BFN is in the process of planning a UFSAR verification program.One of the sections being verified, and revised if needed, is the Section 2.2.2 population estimate for the 10 mile radius.At present, unit 3 will be the last BFN operating unit with its license expiring in the year 2008.Approval of this amendment will extend this license to the year 2016.During this extended period of operation (from 2008 to 2016), it is currently estimated that the population within the 10 mile radius will increase approximately 8 percent.This results in a projected population within the 10 mile radius of approximately 62,100 in the year 2016.In addition, TVA does not expect any significant increase in the annual offsite population dose due to the extended operation of BFN from the years 2008 to 2016.Doses projected for offsite"total" population in the year 2016 would be about 8 percent greater than estimated for the year 2008.Since this increase is based solely on the projected"total" population increase during this period, the population dose due to natural background radiation would also increase by about 8 percent, therefore the projected population doses due to plant effluents would be expected to remain below the 0.02 percent of the natural background dose reported in section 2.4.3 of the BFN Final Environmental Statement. | If you have an additional questions, please get in touch with Patrick P.
