Dear Mr. Denton:

Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) hereby transmits confirmation of an April 12, 1984 telephone conversation between Mr. R. W. Prunty, Jr. of CP&L and Mr. A. S. Masciantanio of the NRC. Mr. Prunty stated that polyethylene was used as insulation on some of the electrical containment penetration "pigtails" housed within the integral penetration stainless steel termination box. This information is not contrary to CP&L's letter to the NRC, dated April 26, 1983 (Serial: LAP-83-122), which provided a summary of cable insulation, jacketing, and other technical data. These pigtails are not a part of the SHNPP cable and raceway system, but are in fact part of the vendor supplied component wiring.
