Dear Mr. Denton:
Carolina Power R Light Company (CPRL) hereby submits Amendment No. 29 to the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP) Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR). This amendment provides changes to the following: FSAR Sections 6.2.0 and 6.2.6, Containment Isolation System; FSAR Section 3.2.1, Classification of Structures, Systems and Components; and FSAR Section 15.7.0, Postulated Fuel Handling Accident Inside Containment.
Containment Isolation System FSAR changes were submitted to the NRC for review via the referenced letter. Justification for these changes is provided in the Attachment.
Revisions to Table 3.2.1-1 Classification of Structures, Systems and Components, are in response to comments from an NRC reviewer. Reanalysis of a Postulated Fuel Handling Accident Inside Containment was performed in response to NRC staff questions concerning the Containment Pre-entry Purge Radiation Monitor response time. Using final design data and more conservative assumptions in the reanalysis, a longer response time resuTted. Revisions are made to the corresponding FSAR section to reflect this reanalysis.

This amendment contains additional or revised technical information and editorial changes in the form of replacement pages for the SHNPP FSAR. Each revised page bears the notation "Amendment No. 29" at the page bottom.
