The purpose of this letter is to confirm our understanding of the status of NRC activity with regard to the proposed WakeSouth Regional Airport located near the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP).On December 21, 1989, we presented to the NRC staff tha results of our aircraft hazards study associated with the proposed airport.By letter dated January 12, 1990, the NRC issued a summary of this meeting.On January 17, 1990, CP&L formally submitted the results of this aircraft hazards study.CP&L is in the process of completing negotiations with the WakeSouth Airport Authority.
