In your letter dated May 18, 1983, you describe the findings of routine Safety Inspection No. 83-12 conducted by Mr. J.R. White of your office on April 26-29, 1983 at Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station. This inspection report describes Boston Edison's commitment to provide you with empirical data to give evidence that our main stack and reactor building vent sampling systems produce a sample that is representative of the effluent passing through the stacks.
This empirical data was to be provided to you by June 17, 1983. However, because of the low radioactivity levels currently being released through the stacks at Pilgrim, the sample collection times needed for statistical accuracy must be i
increased beyond our original estimates. For this reason, insufficient empirical data will be collected to provide you with the required evidence by June 17, 1983.

Representativeness of Main Stack and Reactor Building Vent Sampling

Dear Sir:

This letter is to inform you that the required empirical data of the representa-tiveness of our main stack and reactor building vent sampling shall be provided to you by July 30, 1983. Mr. R.L. Nimitz of your office was notified of this extention request on May 26, 1983 and found it acceptable.

Very truly yours,
