'110 PROSAgt-CCNScCVSNCcS OIO During cold shutdown while in preparation for the Unit 3 Engineered Safeguards Test, 2 cracks were observed in the 4B charging pump suction~O piping (4" type 304 stainless steel, schedule 10)adjacent to the weld between the suction piping and a drain line.The pump was removed from s'ervice.Two other charging pumps were operable, which satisfied the requirements of TS 3.6.b.l.Similar occurrences were reported in~O LER 250-78-3 and 251-78-4.1 3 9~Og operational pressure pulsationl vibration effects which most probably caused the cracks.Corrective action was to make a weld repair.2 Modifications to reduce cyclic stresses have been completed on, Unit 3 and will be completed on Unit 4 during the Spring 1979 refueling.
