DOCKET N03. 50-445 AND 50-446 FSAR AMENDMENT 73 DESCRIPTION Gentlemen:
Amendment 73 of the CPSES FSAR was transmitted to you under a separate cover letter, TXX-88583, dated August 5, 1988.
Amendment 73 provides updates, revisions, additions, clarifications and editorial chenges. The following is a summary of the detailed description of this amendment:
- 1) Revises Section 2.1 to delete the visitor's overlook access road which no longer exists.
- 2) Revises Section 2.4 to correct the SSI Probable Maximum Flood elevation.
- 3) Provides editorial corrections to Section 2.5 text and tables.
- 4) Clarifies and revises Section 3.68 to expand the definition of break exclusion area (BEA) boundary and include a description of the method for detennining the jet cone shape for Category 11 jets.
- 5) Clarifies Section 3.9N to provide ASME pressure test code requirements for Class 1 applications.
- 6) Revises Section 3.9N to provide new rod drop times which are sonsistent for Unit 1 and Unit 2.
- 7) Adds to Section 7.6 a description of a redundant IIELB pressure switch and alann for the CVCS letdown line and corrects the reference to the applicable edition of IEEE-308 1974 to provide consistancy with other FSAR Chapters.
- 8) Clarifies and revises Section 8.2 discussion of normal, maximum and minimum grid voltages for CPSES.

- 9) Adds Section 9.4C.9 for Battery ar.d Charger Room HVAC system.
- 10) Corrects the Initial Startup Test Schedule (Figure 14.2-4) to reflect previous FSAR revisions.
- 11) Revises Figure 15.0-1 to accommodate previous .wnges 1a nominal reactor coolant Ti n, increased error allowance associated with N-16 core protection instrumentation and an increase in the low pressure core safety limit.
- 12) Revisrs the analysis in Sections 15.2.6 to 15.2.8 for the Loss of Honemergency AC Power, Loss of Normal Feedwater Flow and Feedwater System Pipe Break events utilizing a more conservative single failure.
- 13) Provides in Section 15.6.2, a revised radiation dose at the EAB for the event involving a break in the 3 in. letdown line located outside the Containment.
