DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 RESPONSE TO REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING UNIT 1 AND UNIT 2 INSERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAM RELIEF REQUEST L-1 REF: 1) TU Electric Letter, logged TXX-98041, from C. L. Terry, dated February 20,1998.
Gentlemen:
On February 20,1998, TXU Electric' submitted Unit 1 and Unit 2 Relief Requests E-1 and L-1 (Reference 1). On June 10,1999, the NRC staff (D. Jaffe et al.) and TXU Electric (D. Buschbaum et al.) participated in a phone conference call to discuss an open issue related to the subject relief request. This letter is submitted to provide additional information related to that open issue.
}U TXU Electric woulo like to clarify our understanding of a discrepancy in the 1998 Edition of Subsection lWL of the ASME Code as~it applies to Relief Request L-1 submitted by Reference 1.
in item L1.12. " suspect areas" of Table IWL-2500, the examination method is specified as
" General". TXU Electric concurs that this was a mistake in the Code and that the appropriate examination method should be " Detailed". As such the method to be utilized by TXU Electric for this examination will be " Detailed" examinations.
