DOCKET NO. 50-446 DESIGN'AND CONSTRUCTION OF UNIT 2 REF: (1) TV Electric letter (TXX-88373) from W. G. Counsil to the NRC dated April 14, 1988 (2) TV Electric letter (TXX-89271) from W. J. Cahill to the NRC dated May 19, 1989 (3) TU Electric letter (TXX-90105) from W. J. Cahill to the NRC dated March 30, 1990 Gentlemen:
On March.18, 1988, TU Electric announced the temporary suspension, beginning in April 1988, of construction activities for Unit 2, except for activities for Unit 2 a required to support the completion and operation of Unit 1. As orally requested by the NRC staff,'this letter provides a status of the Unit 2 design and construction activities.
Beginning in the late summer of 1989..TU Electric escalated design and construction activities with emphasis on program and project development to support the completion of CPSES Unit 2. TV Electric will resume detailed design work on Unit 2 in June 1990. Construction activities on Unit 2 are expected to have increased significantly by January 1991. As stated in
. reference (3), TV Electric's work products for Unit 2 will be available for iriapection by the NRC's resident inspectors.
