Dear Mr. Noonan:
As part of the piping and pipe support requalification effort being performed by Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation (SWEC) for CPSES, NRC approval is requested for the use of Code Case N-253-4 dated February 14, 1985,
" Construction of Class 2 or 3 Components for Elevated Temperature Service,Section III, Division 1".
The ASME Section III Code does not include requirements for design of components required to operate at high temperatures. Code Case N-253-4 provides these design requirements. This Code Case will be used in the requalification of the CPSES diesel generator exhaust system components.
Approval of this Code Case will provide a recognized design basis for these components. -
Application of this Code Case will not degrade the safety and integrity of the piping and pipe supports.
