By letter dated April 28, 1988, Georgia Power Company (GPC) responded to violations cited in Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Inspection Report 88-09. Some of the violations were denied, and information supporting the denials was provided. By letter dated May 26, 1988, the NRC stated that GPC's denial of certain violations was not appropriate and requested additional information relative to actions GPC would take to achieve full compliance. Subsequent to our April 28, 1988, letter, additional information related to the violations has become available and it appears that some confusion exists relative to the status of the Plant Hatch Security Plan.
Accordingly, at your earliest convenience, GPC would like to meet with appropriate NRC personnel to discuss these items. Additionally, since the discussions could impact GPC's response to your May 26, 1988, letter, we request the required response date be revised to 30 days after the meeting.
