. STEAM GENERATOR WATER HAMMER -

Commonwealth Edison Company reported that at 11:22 a.m. on July 10, 1977 a Unit 2 reactor scram occurred due to a 2C steam generator low-low level condition. This condition was caused by the loss of a feedwater pump system.while performing maintenance on the feedwater pump lube oil filter During recovery of the steam generator water level, a steam generator water hammer occurred. The water hammer in turn, caused a disturbance safety system of injection.

Visual examination of the feedwater lines and steam flow by members of the plant review' committee showed no pipe support damages and no insula-tion disturbance.

in B loop and one in D loop were found to be cracked.However, The plant is one feedw still shut down for further evaluation of damage. A RIII (Chicago) inspector is at the site reviewing this matter. .
