1. H. G. Stanley letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission dated October 8,1996, transmitting Revision 4 to the Inservice Inspection Plan for Braidwood Units 1 and 2

2. Teleconference dated April'/,1997, between the Commonwealth Edison Company and the Nuclear Regulatory Cotamission Regarding Relief Request NR-29 Reference 1 transmitted the Commonwealth Edison Company's (Comed) first 10 year Inservice Inspection Program and the associated reliefrequests for Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2.

During the Reference teleconference the Staff and Comed specifically discussed Relief Request NR-29 which requested use of a one directional Performance Demonstration Initiative (PDI) on the reactor vessel shell welds. Comed understands that at this time the Staffis reluctant to approve a one directional examination; therefore, Comed will perform the PDI technique from 2 directions and requests the Staff s approval l

at this time. If the Staff s technical concerns for the 1 sided technique are resolved in the future, Comed may ask the Staff to reconsider the application of this technique for the Braidwood Unit 210 year ISI.
