. NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-457/99008(DRS)
Dear Mr. Kingsley:
On May 18,1999, the NRC completed an inspection at your Braidwood Generating Station,
Unit 2. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
The inspection wr s an examination of activities conducted under your license as they relate to
the engineering and maintenance activities for the ins 6rvice inspection (ISI) program and the
steam generator tubing examination. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective
examinations of procedures and representative recordo, interviews with personnel, and
observation of activities in progress. Specifically, the inspection focused on the nondestructive
examination and repair activities as part of the ISI program.
Observation of examinations in progress, review of procedures, data packages, and personnel
qualifications indicated that your ISI was conducted in accordance with ASME Code and
regulatcry requirements. The steam generator inspection program was found to be thorough
and conservative. This was particularly evident in the comprehensive eddy current examination
training and testing programs, and self-assessments of procedures and work activities.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC'S " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter, the
enclosures, and your response to this letter will be placed in the NRC Public Document
Room (PDR).
