APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Swiss Watch Docket No. 99990001 Lancaster, Pennsylvania 17604 General License As a resul' of the inspection conducted on August 20, 1985, and in accordance with the NRC Enforcement Policy (10 CFR 2, Appendix C), the following violations

.were identified:

10 CFR 31.5(c)(2) requires that each device possessed pursuant to 10 CFR 31.5(a) be tested for leakage of radioactive material at no longer than six months intervals.

Contrary to the above, as of August 20, 1985, sealed sources containing less than 100 microcuries of thallium-204, less than 25 microcuries of strontium-90 and less than 75 microcuries of promethium-147 had not been tested for leakage since being received.

Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Swiss Watch is hereby required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of the letter which transmitted this Notice, a written statement or explanation in reply, including: (1) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved. Where good cause is shown, consideration will be given to extending this response time.
