Dear Mr. Sears:
On February 3, and 4,1999, Dick Ladun of this office conducted a safety inspection at the above address. The inspection was limited to a review of circumstances currounding the report of an unauthorized transfer of licensed radioactive material. The findings of the inspection were discussed with Mr. Mosko of your organization at the conclusion of the inspection. The j enclosed report presents the results of this inspection.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were identified.
1 Since Tuscaloosa Steel Company is located in the State of Alabama, a State with which the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has entered into an effective agreement which permits them to regulate radioactive material within their State, NRC Region i staff have contacted the State of Alabama with regard to this matter for action as they deem appropriate.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules and Practices," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter will be placed in the Public Document Room. No reply to this letteris required.
