Dear Mr. Boulette:
SUIUECT: EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS (EP) INSPECTION 50-293/92-26
On December 7-11,1992, as described in the enclosed inspection report, Mr. J. Lusher and
others of this office inspected the Pilgrim emergency preparedness program. That inspection
included selected procedure and record reviews, interviews, evaluation of three crews of
operators during table-top exercises,, and inspector observations. Preliminary inspection
findings were discussed with Mr. Rothert and other members of your staff.
The overall conclusion of this inspection was that the Pilgrim EP program was being
effectively administered and implemented. No violations of NRC requiretrents were found.
Testing of the Technical Support Center ventilation system, the reorganization of the
emergency preparedness program, and training on use of the Protective Action
Recommendation (PAR) procedure were identified for further inspection attention.
