2 of 8 1.0 PURPOSE This procedure, provides instructions for opening and/or closing of 20' diameter Containrent Equipment Hatch Door.
2.0 PRECAUTIONS AND LIMITATIONS 2.1 If only portions of the procedure are required:
2.1.1 Contact the Me.'ntenance Foreman.
2.1.2 Use only the steps that apply.

3.3 Obtain a Radiation Work Per it (RWP) from Lab Supervisor or designated alternate prior to starting work.
3.4 Ensure sufficient spare parts (including gaskets) are on hand BEFORE starting work.
3.5 Ensure cleanliness class is marked on the MWo.
l 4.0 OPENING AND CLOSING OF DOOR CAUTION The shnar/ guide lugs may damage the machined gasket sealing surfaces AND the removable cover may damage the gaskets.
4.1 OPENING OF DOOR 4.1.1 Verify that all prerequisites and initial conditions
have been met, as applicable.
4.1.2 Notify Shift Supervisor of work to be performed.

4.1.3 Ensure that door lif ting hoists cables have sufficient tension to support weight of door.
4.1.4 Loosen 30 hex cuts and spherical washers from door flange and swing bolts away from door (nuts do not have to be removed in order for eyebolts to swing clear).
4.1.5 Remove the cover from the opening and clear of the shear / guide lugs.
4.1.6 Raise the removable cover to the stored position and support the cover on the guide becm support.
4.2 CHECKOUT 4.2.1 Check sealing surfaces for imperfections.
Repair
as necessary.
4.2.2 Check threads of bolts and nuts for damage.
Repair
or replace as necessary.
4.2.3 Visually check the door and hatch mating surfaces for
cleanliness and are free of burra.

4.2.5 Clean, check, and lubricate (never-seez) swing bolt j
threads.
l 4.3-CLOSING OF DOOR CAUTION The shear / guide lugs may damage the machined gasket sealing surfaces and the removabic cover may damage the gaskets.
4.3.1 Carefully lower the cover from the stored position to the opening and align it with the barrel flange.
The shear / guide lugs are provided to unist in alignment and final positio ing.
4.3.2 Select four (4) eyebolts located equal distances apart, swing these eyebolts into the bolt chairs making sure the spherical washers are inserted between the nut and bolt chair.
4.3.3 Tighten the nuts on the four eyebolts until the gasket O
sealing surface on the removable cover contacts the gasket.
4.3.4 Swing the remaining eyebolts into their respective bolt chairs, make sure the spherical washers are inserted between the nut and the bolt chair.
4.3.5 Run all nuts down finger tight.
CAUTION Over tightening nuts more than required for ordinary manual wrenching methods may cause damage.
4.3.6 Tighten all nuts in sequence.aown (Figure 1).
Repeat sequence until hatch sealing surface makes metal to metal contact with the barrel flange.
4.3.7 Verify double seal is pressure tested.
4.3.8 Notify Shift Supervisor that required maintenance is
complets.
