Docket No. 50-244 t,

Dear Dr. Morris:

On February 3,1972 during the routine bi-weekly PT 6.3 Surveillance Test  ;

(Periodic Test - NIS Powcr flange Channels) the power range high setroint on Nuclear Power Channel N-41 was found to be at 110 percent of rated ["

power . This value exceeded the Limiting Safety System setting of ~.; 109 percent as setforth in Section 2.3.1.2 of the Technical Specifications and accordingly constitutes an abnormal occurrence.

With the channel in a trip mode, investigation revealed that the lov ve?tage supply had drifted out of its specifications of i .025 volt tolerance. The g-channel was realigned to within proper limits and rotested sansfactorily. P aring Normally two of the four channels , o necessary for a trip conttion.

the testing and realignment the redur %nce w:2s r'. iaced to e one of three channels needed for a trip. All channeic 2 et.;uequenily tested satis-factorily.

The last complete alignment of all tne power channels was made on November 11, 1971.

The Plant Operations Review Ccmmittee reviewed the occurrence and recom-monded that the data of the tests be more closely observed for trendin light of the shortness of the time period since the full alignment of these protection channels.

Very truly yours ,
