Ginna Statica Dceket No. 50-244

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

At approvie.ately 1145 hours0.0133 days
0.318 hours
0.00189 weeks
4.356725e-4 months
on December 11, 1974, Boric Acid Tank level transnitter LT-171 fciled by suddenly dropping to zero level indication. The less of the transmitter is considered as the loss of a redundant feature in a scfety syctem and-ic being reported as an Abnormal Occurrence by Technical Specification definition 1.9d.

Each Boric Acid Tank has tro level transmitters which send signals to opening circuits of the Boric Acid Tank Outict Valves (826 A,B,C and D). These valves will open on a S.I. signal, as long as the level transmitter indicate levels greater than 107.. Ufth the loss of LT-171, one part of the opening logic is receiving a closing signal. The opening logie, consists of one out of the two level signals from cach tank, will provide a signal to open all f our valvos. As long as the other trar.:nitter of the Eoric Acid Tank with the f ailed transmitter, operates correctly,127, Boric Acid would be supplied as required by a S.I. signal.

Very truly yours, O C h.T_. - (Mh@
