Subject:

McGuire Nuclear Station ,

Docket No. 50-369

Reference:

RII:AT 50-369/82-21 i) ear Mr. O'Reilly:

In my September 1, 1982 letter transmitting Duke Power Cornpany's response to the security violation identified in the subject inspection report, it was indicated that a section concerning "fireach of Securi ty Boundaries as a Result of Work Ac tivit ies" will be included in the next periodic general station security training progran aud io-visual update. This audio-visual training revision is now scheduled to be completed by March 31, 1983. This information was requested in a telecon betweca myself and Messrs. 11. C . Dance and .I. C. lir ya n t (NRC/ Region II) on Septen-ber 8, 1982.

Additionally, the corrective action (revise security personnel training to assure vital / protected area barrier integrity is maintained, and revise procedures to address specific nethods and concerns during inspection of vital / protected areas) which was scheduled for completion by 9/7/82 has been accomplished. Therefore, the only remainfug corrective action which has not yet been completed is the above men-tiened aulio-visual update. Iloweve r , since that ac t ion is effectively being accom-plished (as of 9/1/82) by reading the information during the training progran (ref-crence the Septenher 1, 1982 response), McGuire Unit 1 is now in f ull compliance wit h its approved. security plan.

Ilope f ully this should clear up any renaining concerns on this violation. If I can be of further assistance in this matter, please advise.

Very truly yours,
