FLORIDA POWER CORPORATION SUPPLEMENT I SPECIAL REPORT 85-02 Special Report 85-02 reported the Inoperability of the Halon portion of the fire suppression system at Crystal River Unit 3. The report listed the cause of the Halon subsystem Inoperability as modification work in progress and estimated the subsystem to be restored to operability by July 1,1985. This supplement is provided because the Halon subsystem was not restored to operability by July 1,1985.

The July 1,1985 date was not met due to extensive ac Jitional work necessary to complete the modifications discussed in Special Report 85-02. shis additional work was required because of the unanticipated difficulties in dealing with the asbestos materials in the areas being modified. The presence of asbestos made additional safety precautions necessary and significantly hindered work progress on the modifications.

Fire watches have been continually monitoring the area normally protected by the Halon subsystem and will continue to do so until the subsystem is restored to operability. The subsystem and will be operable prior to the plant being brought back up from refueling.
