Florida Power Corporation Special Report 85-03 Supplement 2 Technical Specification 3.3.3.9 requires that the intermediate and high range channels of the gaseous effluent release monitors (RM-Al and RM-A2) be calibrated each refueling outage. Due to delays in contractual arrange-ments, these monitors were not able to be calibrated in Refuel V which ended in August 1985, and FPC entered Action Statement 29 The Post Accident Sampling System (PASS) was initiated within 72 hours8.333333e-4 days
0.02 hours
1.190476e-4 weeks
2.7396e-5 months
and Special Report 85-03 dated August 21, 1985 (3F0885-10) was submitted. In Supplement 1 to Special Report 85-03 dated November 19, 1985 (3F1185-22), FPC stated that during calibrations performed at an offsite laboratory, it was revealed that the intermediate and high ranges of RM-Al and RM-A2 did not overlap in accordance with NUREG-0737 (Item II.F.1.1). As a result, modification and recalibration was initiated to obtain the overlap. The schedule for completion of these activities was to have been March 31, 1986.

The modification to achieve overlap of the instrumentation ranges has been completed. The calibration of the intennediate channels of RM-Al and RM-A2 is also complete. However, due to problems associated with utilizing the laboratory calibration procedure in the field, the calibration for the high range channels of RM-Al and RM-A2 has not yet been completed. As a result of these difficulties, this activity is now scheduled to be completed by May 30, 1986.
