SUMMARY

Month: July, 1988' Catawba Ur.it 1 Catawba Unit 1 began the month of July operating at 100% full power. On 7/19.at 0103, the unit reduced power to 30% due to the Feedwater System chemistry out-of-spee. On the unit's return to 100% full power, power escalation was halted at 65% power to place the second Main Feedwater Pump in service, 82%

power te adjust the High Flux Trip Setpoint, and at 91% power.to calibrate Nuclear Instrumentation. The unit reached 100% full power at 1216 on 7/20.

The unit'. reduced power to 96% on 7/23 to remove the '1C2' Heater: Drain Pump from service. The unit returned to 100% full power at_1200 on 7/24. The unit i reduced power slightly on 7/24 and again on 7/26 due to Heater Drain Pump problems. The unit returned to 100% full power on 7/27 where it operated for the remainder of the month.
