District Superintendent -

Owen J. Roberts School District Administration Building 20 #1 ,

Po?tstown, PA 19464 Re: Limerick Nuclear Power Plant -- Emergency Response Planning

Dear Dr. Claypool:

I am writing in response to your letter of June 27, 1984 requesting aid in notifying governmental agencies of deficiencies in the emergency response plan for the Owen J. Roberts School District in the event of an accident at the Limerick Nuclear Generating Station. The Governor's Energy Council plays only a small role in fixed nuclear facility emergency response planning and is therefore not in a position to address the specific emergency planning matters you have cited.

In response to your concerns, I would refer you to the July 23, 1984 letter to you from the Director, Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA). PEMA is the lead agency in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for coordination of radiological ,

emergency responsc planning, and as such is best able to address the issues you raise. I hope that, through a cooperative effort, your issues of concern can be readily resolved.

Very truly yours,

, -m f, 7 M .j . ) ff-Z o ri G . Ferkin Assistant Counsel j- (717-783-9982)
