Which was provided by WRC letter dated February 8,1990. The NRC letter fotvarded the NRC staff's position that. Browns Ferry shall install neutron flux monitoring- i instrumentation which' complies with the category I criteria of Regulatory '

TVA endorses the BWR Owners' Group letter August 16, 1990, to Dr. Thomas E. Murley which appeals the NRC Staff's position directing i installation of upgraded neutron flux monitoring systems. In sumary, the  !

currently installed neutron flux monitoring capability is adequately qualified ,

for design basis events and the significant expenditures which would be [

required to upgrade this equipment catraot be justified from a cost-benefit I perspec'1ve. TVA requesto that furth9r BFW specific actions regarding this f issue be deferred pending the resolution of the owners' Croup appeal. i There are no commitments contained in this letter.
