Generic letter 83-28, Item 2.2.1, requested licensees to describe in detail their programs for classifying all safety-related components, other than reactor trip system components, as safety-related. This classification was to  ;

be on documents and in information handling systems .that are used to control plant ~ activities t may affect these components. In a letter dated November 8,1983,(3 pat Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNECO), on- behalf of M111stene Unit Hos.1, 2, and 3, and Connecticut Yankee Atomic Pnwer Company .

(CYAPCO), en behalf of the Haddam Neck Plant, responded.to these requirements.

In letters dated October 26, 1986, and February 20 and 24, 1987, the NRC requested additional information on NNEC0's Millstone Unit Nos.1 and 2 and CYAPCO's March Haddamgck Plant responses to the same issue. In a letter dated 13, 1987, - NNECO, on behalf of Millstone Unit Nos.1 and 2, and CYAPCO, on behalf of the Haddam Neck Plant, submitted information that i

1 described the existing safety related equipment classification program.

Although not specifically requested by the Staff, NNECO, on be1alf of Millstone Unit No. 3, hereby informs the NRC Staff that the information regarding safety-related equipment classification programs provided in our March 13, 1987, letter is also applicable for Millstone Unit No. 3.
