Dear Mr. Utley:

SUBJECT:

GENERIC LETTER 83-28 ITEM 1.2, POST-TRIP REVIEW -

DATA AND INFORMATION CAPABILITY Re: Brunswick Steam Electric Plant Units 1 and 2.

By letter dated November 7, 1983, the Carolina Power & Light Company responded to Generic Letter 83-28 with regard to required actions based on generic implications of Salem ATWS events. The enclosed Safety Evaluation was based upon a Technical Evaluation Report (TER) input from Science Applications International Corporation.

A draft TER was sent to you by letter dated May 15, 1985 for your comments and/or clarifications. Your staff made certain clarifications regarding the items marked in the draft TER and had no other comments.

Based on our review, we conclude that the post-trip review data and information capabilities for Brunswick Steam Electric Plant Units 1 and 2 are acceptable.

Sincerely, Original signed by/

Domenic B. Vassallo, Chief Operating Reactor Branch #2 Division of Licensing
